Devon drinks brand JAMU secures Harrods Food Hall listing

Devon based drinks brand JAMU has taken another step into the national premium market after securing a listing with Harrods in London.

The company’s prebiotic sodas are now available through the Harrods Food Hall, putting the Devon brand in front of customers at one of the UK’s best known luxury retailers.

For JAMU, the listing represents an expansion of its retail presence and provides another example of a South West food and drink business taking a locally developed product into a national marketplace.

JAMU takes Devon brand into luxury retail

JAMU was founded by husband and wife team Alex and Lillie Williams, who developed the drinks after becoming interested in the relationship between gut health and overall wellbeing.

The company produces sparkling sodas containing plant based prebiotic fibre, with the range designed as an alternative to conventional soft drinks.

Its move into Harrods comes as interest in functional drinks and products associated with gut health continues to influence the wider food and drink market.

Speaking about the listing, Alex Williams said: “Being stocked in Harrods is a huge milestone for us. It’s one of the most iconic retailers in the world and a real stamp of approval for the quality and positioning of JAMU.”

The company said the Harrods listing would help introduce the brand to a wider audience as it continues to develop its presence in the premium drinks market.

For Devon’s food and drink sector, the deal is another example of how businesses developed in the county can use their regional identity as a base for reaching customers well beyond the South West.

Devon already has a strong reputation for independent food and drink production, ranging from established producers to younger brands looking towards national retail and online markets.

Breaking into a retailer such as Harrods gives JAMU greater visibility, but also puts the Devon business into a highly competitive marketplace alongside established premium brands.

For Alex, Lillie and their team, the challenge will now be to build on that exposure as JAMU develops its retail presence beyond the region.
